Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment
The Dera Sacha Sauda Chief who is also the star of a film franchise, was sentenced to ten years in prison after he was found guilty of raping two women
Spiritual leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been
sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping two women in
a 2002 case.
The leader of the Dera Sacha Sauda made his Bollywood
debut with MSG: The Messenger of God in
2015. It was written by and starring the religious leader, who is also
credited as co-director, co-cinematographer, co-editor, songwriter, and
stuntman. He then starred in two more films, including MSG: The Warrior Lion
Heart.
Followers of Dera Sacha Sauda in Punjab and Haryana
burned down gas stations, train stations and torched vehicles after Ram Rahim
was announced guilty of rape. At least 38 people were killed and more than 200
injured in the violence in Haryana.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was taken into custody as soon as
he was pronounced guilty and that is when the rioting began.
